Contact: Julie Terrall
For our specific ministry, we are working on bringing food and clothing to those who don’t have the money to get them (holidays are obviously especially bad) and we’re starting a parish nursing program. We need money, food, and clothing to continue these ministries, and we need people to volunteer at these now-monthly events so that they can grow and become more regular so we can daily serve the poor in our community. We also need volunteers to sit with some elderly who just need help and company – there’s one 102 year old who could use this service.

3. People. They need more people- guys especially- that would be willing to mentor the kids, hang out with them, play basketball, and possibly even invite them to visit Cedarville with them… getting those kids out of their environment is the best thing anyone can do.
4. Video– this one was in my last email

They’re always looking for people who are willing to mentor kids in a consistent way. Kids need consistency more than anything.
We’re also looking to do a benefit concert, so anyone who would be willing to help out with that would be sweet. I’ve already got a band; I’m just looking for a place to do it.
Oh, they’re working on putting together a few videos ASAP that would work to let possible future workers/ givers/ volunteers know a bit about Inside Out. A few people with time, the right equipment, and some creativity would go a long way.
They have a weight room on sight. If they had more people to staff it, they’d be able to have it open more often.

One of the greatest joys for me is the endeavor of learning with my fellow pre-sem students. Many of us have become close friends as we grin and bear the brunt of learning Greek and studying hermeneutics and other radical subjects.

Tell us a little but about yourself.

Well, I am a junior pre-seminary Bible major minoring in philosophy, which means “that I study a lot and don’t know half of what I should know,” as my dear friend Chris Gehman so eloquently stated during his candidacy speech last year (that line was paraphrased, by the way). Seriously, though. It’s nuts. But I love every moment of it! This year, I’m serving as a discipleship leader to the best group of guys I could ask for, and I’m the junior class chaplain. Both unpaid privileges keep me quite occupied, yet I love the people I’m working with in each sphere of ministry and I have been growing to love God and others more through them.

I grew up in the town of Columbia, Missouri as the oldest of five kids, which was and is an incredible experience. My sister is a freshman, studying linguistics at the University of Missouri (in Columbia - Go Tigers!) and I have two cool younger brothers in high school and my youngest sister is in the 2nd grade. God has blessed me so much through them and I think of them a lot! My parents and close friends always encouraged me to pursue high goals while doing so in light of a continual love for God and for others, and it’s amazing to see the road God placed in front of me which led me here to Cedarville. I consider myself blessed to be here!

If you could meet anyone (dead or alive) who would it be, and why?

Oh man. I’m not sure how many people know who he is these days, but I would love to sit down and jam on the guitar with Stevie Ray Vaughan. When I was in my mid-teens, I picked up a copy of one of Vaughan’s greatest hits albums laying around the house, and I plugged it into my small Philips CD player in my room. I couldn’t believe the sound I was hearing: it was unlike anything I had ever heard in my entire life. “He can make the guitar do THAT?! HOW?!” One of the main reasons I picked up an electric guitar was to learn SRV blues guitar! While I cannot exactly imitate Vaughan’s playing style, I think it’d be sweet to have a guitar lesson with him, even if it was only for 15 minutes!

What are some of the things you like about being a student at Cedarville?

One of the greatest joys for me is the endeavor of learning with my fellow pre-sem students. Many of us have become close friends as we grin and bear the brunt of learning Greek and studying hermeneutics and other radical subjects. Even though it might seem painful in the moment with all the deadlines and exams of the semester, learning and loving the word of God with dedicated community is one of the greatest, most humbling rewards I’ve gotten from this place. My professors have learned to teach well, study well, and love well: they are some of the best examples of Christlike, sacrificial love that I’ve ever seen. Learning from them has been a great gift, because my devotion to Christ and love for the church continues to grow because of them.

You can’t forget the good times with friends, either! Chipotle runs, cornmazes (yeah Ohio), playing ultimate, prayer, music jam sessions… Gold Rush is probably one of my favorite events at Cedarville and I can’t wait for basketball season to kick into high gear!

What is one of your most embarrassing moments?

Wow. I hate this question. Really, I do. Wanna know why? I honestly cannot recall a situation that was awkward enough to be mentioned here that would also make the reader laugh. I don’t consider myself to be a particularly funny sort of guy who gets himself into strange situations which quickly turn into embarrassing ones. In fact, I would be the worst stand up comedian. I would have to explain my jokes after I tell them (P-Mage and Drew, if you read this, you know what I mean). I would love to force myself to become a funny person, but it just hasn’t happened yet. Maybe someday, with wisdom and experience in the realm of “awkward,” I will become more of a funny person.

Tell us a little but about yourself (year, major, hometown, testimony, etc).

I am a sophomore, Middle Childhood Education major from Columbus Ohio. I try to live my life based on Galatians 2:20. “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”

How did you first become involved in music?

I got involved in music because my dad made me quit sports. He was sick of driving me to practices. So I got a guitar for my birthday and got started with some lessons, and never really stopped. I always liked to sing, so I guess guitar just gave me a way to make singing easier. I don’t even know if that makes sense. Oh well.

Who are some of your favorite artists?

I have a lot of favorite artists. I love Jon Foreman, Mute Math, Paramore, Phil Wickham, so many more…

If you could listen to 1 album for the rest of your life, what would it be?

I would have to say Jars of Clay’s first album. I grew up listening to it like every day. I can sing every word to it, and I when each song is done, I can sing the next song before it even comes on. I love it.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I’m a junior accounting major from Winter Park, Florida. I grew up in a Christian home and went to an awesome Christian school. I became a Christian when I was six years old, but have grown a lot since. I really enjoy a lot of stuff, but specifically I enjoy dancing, hunting, fishing, wakeboarding, soccer and basketball.

How did you first become involved in music?

I was involved in music at an early age. All of my family members listened to all different kinds of genres while I was growing up. I began singing along with many of the songs and really enjoyed dancing to them. I wanted to be a better dancer and wanted a genre of dance that not many people can do. So, I took break dancing lessons, in middle school. I eventually joined my high school choir and began singing tenor. I then started specifically enjoying the genres of country and hip-hop, which I enjoy the most today. I began working with computer composing programs and actually did a little bit of DJ scratching at some of my high school’s varsity backetball games. I continued my dancing and singing through high school into college. I was able to use these skills in ELLIV this past year in the Backstreet Boys’ act, “Larger Than Life” which involved both singing and dancing. I really enjoy both and am looking forward to using them both as a ministry for Christ in the future.

Who are some of your favorite artists?

My favorite artists are Josh Turner, Colbie Caillat, Elvis Presley, Bob Marley, and Lecrae.

If you could listen to 1 album for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Probably Elvis: 50-years 50-hits, because it has a little bit of everything: southern gospel, rock, hip-hop, blues, and love. Plus, you can’t beat Elvis.
